THE SEARCH FOR SHARED STORIES OF EUROPE

We invite you to read the contributions - essays, columns, research, book reviews and more of internationally renowned thinkers who are, as we, investigating and questioning European Narratives and their making in the present and the future. World-renowned Indian author Amitav Ghosh – who provided the thought-provoking keynote speech for ECF’s Imagining Europe event last month – has written a stimulating essay for our online Narratives Reading Room. Also read Marc Hannemann's report on this same event.

OSVALD: A EUROPEAN HERO?

Narratives for Europe

Are there emerging European Narratives – new visions – that can connect people across Europe? What’s Europe’s position in today’s global world? What will be its future role? These are the type of questions ECF is exploring and putting forward for debate here on this website.

We invite thinkers and activists from Europe and beyond

  • to share their thoughts and observations…
  • to juxtapose, compare, dare, contemplate, open new perspectives, provide food for thought…
  • to build Narratives for Europe.

When I first arrived in Europe I did not dare to make photos outside of the asylum centre to send back to my family because everything here looks so posh and beautiful. If I sent such pictures, my family wouldn’t believe how painful and heavy it actually is to stay in an asylum centre. That is the power of Europe.

Rodaan Al Galidi responds to our fourth theme in Voices.

Voices - Join!
