Realized by Sanatorium (www.sanatorium.com.tr) and the Museum of Contemporary Art Leipzig (Galerie für Zeitgenössische Kunst – GfZK http://www.gfzk.de/), this project aims at establishing communication between high school students in different countries via contemporary art. The project to be held between December 2011 – May 2012 consists of workshops with youngsters every week throughout six months. In this context, each group will determine a question concerning everyday life and the groups altogether will answer the question via visual tools (photography, video, etc.) of contemporary art.
In the first stage of the project which has started in December 2011 with the participation of the students of Petrischule in Leipzig and Istanbul High School in Istanbul, workshops have been held to inform youngsters on contemporary art.
In the next stages of the project, the visual works that the youngsters produce on the questions below will be uploaded to the web site specially designed for the project: http://www.gfzk-leipzig.de/tandem
1. Question: “Is döner more delicious in Turkey than in German?
2. Question: “Are you really all blond?
3. Question: “Under which circumstances are you allowed to have a relationship?”
4. Question: "What do you think is fun?"
In February 2012, a group of youngsters from Manchester are participating in the project with the collaboration of And Or Not (http://and0rnot.wordpress.com/). It is also envisaged to organize a summer camp to bring together the youngsters after the six-months workshop process. Furthermore, in September 2012 there will be simultaneous exhibitions held in the cities where the project is realized.
